The following is a list of field trips through the end of the year, unless someone sets up another. In the mom's room on Friday, we thought it would be fun if someone would like to set up a Community Center swim time perhaps in March (but not during Spring Break!). I'll bring sign ups for the April and May field trips to the March PATH School Days.

FEBRUARY

Tour of the Big Lake Fire Department
Friday, February 22, 2002 at NOON

We will get a tour of the Fire Department, inspect the trucks and gear, watch a 10 minute video on fire safety and have a Thermal Imaging System demonstration. The TIS is the heat sensing camera that enables the firemen to locate people in the black smoke of a fire.
I saw a demonstration once, it was really neat!

Please let me (Terri Dickenson) know by Tuesday 2-19-2002 if you will be attending. They would also like to know the age range of kids so they can have age appropriate things to do. Just let me know grade level of your oldest.

MARCH

Thursday, March 21---2 Field trips in one day
Both Free--Both for ages 6 and up--sign up by March 15. Both limited to approx. 30.

10:45 AM Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant Tour-St. Paul

966 South Mississippi River Blvd (this is the front address, but we need to come in the Employee Parking Lobby, which is on the NE corner, opposite Baker's Square).
Tour begins at 11 AM and lasts approximately 1 hour. All attending must be at least 6 years old.

1:15 PM Animal Humane Society Tour-Golden Valley

845 Meadow Lane N.

This one-hour tour begins at 1:30 and is geared to ages 6 and up (but younger siblings are allowed). It concludes with a 15 minute animal handling time.

APRIL

April 8, Monday, 9:45 AM (10 AM show), Minneapolis Planetarium
Cost: $2.75 per person. Age 2 and under is free. Payment due by March 15 at School Days.
Note: The planetarium will be closing later this year and the new one won't be built until 2006
One hour show, ½ is a night sky simulation; the other ½ is a fast-paced show,
" 3-2-1 Blast-off" geared toward younger elementary, but other ages should enjoy.

Just a thought-as the show ends at about 11, it might be fun to have a group lunch at a kid-friendly place on the way back-suggestions? Or just go someplace they can run around.

April 25, Thursday The Traveling Creation Museum
10-12 PM approx. at Wooddale Church in Eden Prairie. $2.00 per person by March 25.

MAY

May 7, Tuesday , 9:15 AM (10 AM perf.), Children's Theater, Alice in Wonderland
(also Minneapolis Institute of Arts, 1:00 PM)
Cost: $8, $6 lap child under 4. Payment due April 5 at School Days. Limited to 30.
The theater performance will be followed by backstage tour of the theater. We have to go in as group, so you need to be there by 9:30 (allow time for parking, which is free). I think the performance is 90 minutes long. As the Children's Theater is adjacent to the Minneapolis Institute of Art (MIA), you can also visit that facility which is free. A docent-led, 1-hour tour is scheduled for 1 PM (no cost). A full fine-arts day! Bring a lunch or buy one at the MIA.

May 15, Wednesday, 9:45 (10 AM tour) Oliver Kelly Farm (Elk River)
Family Roles and Farm animals (springtime emphasis) Cost: $3 per person, pre-K children and Historical Society members are free.
I think the tour is about 2 hours. Payment due May 3 at School Days.

May 21--Eden Prairie Water Plant tour, 1:00-2:00, $1.50 per person.
The group will be divided k-3 and 4th-grade up. Payment due by April 21

Don't forget, Saturday, May 18 is the Track and Field day!
